FG served as the Owner’s Representative to The Salvation Army for the development, design and construction of the new Freedom Center complex is located on a 6 acre site in the West Humboldt Park neighborhood.  IFG assisted with the property purchase, Planned Development approval, demolition of the existing buildings, environmental remediation, project team selection, design administration and construction oversight.

 

The Freedom Center is an umbrella residential campus consisting of the Harbor Light Center, Pathway Forward Program and the Corps Community Center.  Combined, the 180,000 square foot LEED facility includes over 400 beds, multiple classrooms, separate dining rooms, gymnasium and multi-purpose chapel.  Many of the support, recreational and administrative spaces will be utilized for all three programs while providing controlled and secured access for the residents and community groups. 

 

Designed by Antunovich Associates, and constructed by Bulley Andrews/UJAMAA JV, the Center opened in September 2015.
