UNIVERISTY OF PHOENIX STADIUM - GLENDALE, ARIZONA
IFG was involved in multiple aspects of the 1.7 million square foot stadium. During the bidding phase, every major City in the Phoenix metropolitan area was involved in a fierce competition to host the state-funded facility. IFG was retained as the representatives for the City of Glendale to provide expertise on the financing and operational questions that were elements of the City’s proposal. After the City of Glendale was selected as the host, IFG continued to advise the City during its negotiations with the Cardinals and the State of Arizona. In mid-2004, IFG, in a joint venture with Global Spectrum, was chosen to be the operator of the stadium.
The University of Phoenix Stadium, with its retractable roof and natural grass playing field is unlike any other stadium in North America. The primary tenants in the stadium include the NFL Arizona Cardinals and the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl. The 63,400 seat stadium (expandable to 72,200) includes 88 suites, 7,400 club seats, 160,000 square feet of contiguous exhibit space and 20,000 square feet of meeting space.
Opened in August 2006, the $400 million stadium was designed by Peter Eisenman in conjunction with HOK Sport and constructed by Hunt Construction Group.
